Happy Midsummer’s Day! The Summer Solstice is here. |
Light the way Home
Lanterns have long evoked a sense of home, owing to their historical use as signals, like lighthouses guiding mariners to safe harbour. No cottage nautical motif would be complete without one.
Picture your walkway or waterfront dock lined with the warm flicker of candlelight reflecting through glass and chrome, or casting intricate shadows through carved lantern frames, or the romantic ambience of lanterns hung en masse from the porch roof, pergola or clothesline.
From an indoor vignette to your outdoor oasis, we have the perfect lantern to suit your décor project here at Granny Taught Us How & Heidi’s Room. Traditional, contemporary and rustic.
Wood, aged metal and chrome. Add a decorative display of silk flora or a pot of herbs to lend a bit of whimsy, and for night use nothing beats classic candlelight.
RainLites
Ready to retire for the evening?
Avoid the mood-snuffing hassle of blowing out all those candles by using our RainLite battery-powered outdoor flameless candles instead of real ones. RainLites come with a remote control that will switch off up to 8 candles with the push of a button!
This Summer is for the Birds
Our popular metal herons have migrated back to the store for the summer! Available in 3 sizes, these inspired, hand-crafted sculptures are powder coated, weather resistant and full of character. A beautiful way to add vertical interest in your flowerbeds.
This year they’ve brought along some friends: families of metal ducks, guinea hens and chicks, woodpeckers and even owls.
Owls are everywhere this year! Make a wise purchase and get the ‘who’s hoo’ of avian trends into your garden this season with our metal birds.

What is that gorgeous purple flower? |
If you’ve admired the scaevola (yes, that’s its name, a.k.a. ‘purple fan flower’) that flourishes in our flower boxes all summer, now’s your chance to enjoy some at home. We take custom orders every year, but we currently have extras, waiting for your patio urns. Please call the store at 519-925-2748 to reserve yours: $21.95 per generous hanging pot. They are hardy in full sun or shade. Keep them watered and you’ll enjoy continuous blooms until first frost.

The Medium is the Message |
From time to time, Mrs. Mitchell’s provides a venue for organizations that wish to put on special events, open to the public. On Wednesday July 24th, we will be hosting one such event from two women who help people through their work as intuitive mediums.
Sandy Duncan and Linda Hart use Mediumship to help people receive healing messages from their Deceased Loved Ones, Spirit Guides and Angels.

People attend Mediumship events to connect with family and friends who have crossed over. The family and friends who have passed away are also anticipating these events, and may come through to communicate thoughts and feelings from the Other Side. These powerful messages of love can transform our grief, regret and sadness into feelings of happiness and peace.
Come enjoy the experience, held in a loving and open group setting. Every event is different in that spirit, as to what messages are shared. Although not everyone may receive a personal message, such as in a one-on-one reading, messages are often recognized as beneficial by more than one person.
Date: Wednesday, July 24th, 2013
Time: 6:30 to 9:30pm
Tickets: $80 for full course dinner, introduction and readings
Please contact Sandy by phone 416-346-9849 to register:
