Heidi's Room at Granny Taught Us How

Autumn LanternFall into Autumn at Granny Taught Us How
& Heidi’s Room

The recent warm weather with that hint of Autumn cool, easing us through the seasonal transition, and the accompanying warm colours that now cover these smooth rolling hills have us feeling all warm and cozy inside.

So come inside Granny’s and see how Autumn has inspired our displays throughout the store.

Peril-less Ambience

Candles so real!Only the sales are smoking from our incredible new line of flameless candles. In just the few months that we’ve carried them, we’ve sold over 300 of them! Why? Because they are so realistic: made of real wax, they feature a moving “flame” that shines and moves randomly, creating the most convincing illusion of a flickering flame you’ve ever seen. Many customers have expressed concern for the safety of our display units!

The candles come in different sizes, operate on AA batteries and each has a timer so you can have it come on at the same time each day, and rest assured that it will extinguish itself after five hours. No black smoke, no wax spills, no fire hazard. These candles are the perfect solution for shops, restaurants or households with pets, children or forgetful candle-lovers!

Feel Good Cards

Love is BestGet your greeting on with a new line of environmentally-friendly cards and books from Granny Taught Us How and Heidi’s Room - heart-warming products that celebrate the important things in life, like birthdays, friendship, love, congratulations, sympathy and encouragement.

“Beautiful illustrations, vibrant colors, inspiring quotations and an easy-to-do environmental tip on the back. Green manufactured" to leave the lightest possible environmental footprint. Plus, 10% of the profits are donated to organizations that protect our environment and fight global warming.”

This small personal gesture can do a world of good.

Designer Style

Cobi LadnerCobi Ladner is one of Canada's foremost design authorities and former Editor of Canadian House & Home magazine and TV. We now carry Cobi’s crisp, bright, energizing designs in a selection of throw pillows from her cobistyle label.

Cobi’s fresh, citrus hues are perfectly complemented by our Mandarin Coriander scent collection from Thymes. Choose a candle, room spray or their beautiful reed diffuser. It’s a bit more expensive than the other options, but it lasts for more than a year (proven by the one that’s still effective in Mrs. Mitchell’s men’s room since last Christmas season!). This refreshing scent is also available in bath and body products. We love it!

Watch for Customer Appreciation Night Announcement

In the coming weeks, we’ll be planning our second annual Customer Appreciation Night. Last year was our first and it was a great success! We look forward to welcoming you all back again for another special evening, and will announce the date in our next newsletter, in early November.

New and Exciting at Mrs. Mitchell’s Restaurant

Mrs. Mitchell's RestaurantYes, the hills are alive with the colours of Autumn. Welcome back, beloved leaf lookers – your timing is perfect! Bring a new friend with you this season to shop, dine and see the sights.

It’s not only the leaves and décor that are changing here in Violet Hill. We are proud to announce some new colours on our menu as well: the Classic Reuben Sandwich is now available for lunch. Our chef personally smokes the meat to his own high standards, then carves and serves it on toasted marble rye bread, accompanied by sauerkraut, melted swiss cheese and a garden salad. Yes, it’s new but it’s already famous! Heidi says: “I don’t even eat meat and I had three of these last week”!

If you haven’t tried our sticky toffee pudding yet, you should really get in here and have some. It’s slack-jaw-roll-your-eyes-back GOOD! If you have to save half your meal to leave room, it’s worth it. We’ll pack up your left-overs in a beautiful foil swan and you can have them tomorrow…still delicious!

Stuffed and Thankful
Our special thanks to all who joined us for a record-setting Thanksgiving weekend. We’re always pleased to host your family and do the cooking for you, and we hope that you all enjoyed your visit with us. Come again for your next special occasion.

Book your “out of office” experience
After such a busy holiday, we encourage you to book early for your Christmas (there, we said it!) work party. Tell the boss to call and book now for the whole team – get out of the office, let your hair down, and kick off another year of good gossip while we take care of the finer details.

Mrs. Mitchell’s is also a great place for an offsite lunch or afternoon tea – a special treat to acknowledge your star performers or impress important business contacts. We look forward to serving you soon!
